The Seward Mermaid Festival was created by local businesses and citizens in partnership with the Seward Harbor Opening Weekend, to celebrate rejuvenation, develop a creative community impact, and encourage local entrepreneurship.
The mermaid theme was chosen to represent our community's symbiotic relationship with the seas, oceans, and waterways that we hold so close to our hearts. Additionally, her attributes and qualities are ones that we feel everyone in Seward strives toward: Strength, Ingenuity & Expression Of Self.
We invite you to join us for three days of city-wide activities for the whole family!

Mermaid Merchants
Vendor applications for the Seward Mermaid Festival will open on January 1st! Be sure to submit your application early, as spots fill up fast. Due to limited space, not all applications will be accepted, but the official lineup of accepted vendors will be announced in March. We can’t wait to see what creative mermaid-inspired treasures you’ll bring to the festival!
Shell-abrate in Style
For the past four years and counting, Artwork by Sierra Winter has been the creative force behind the iconic Mermaid Festival logos. Sierra, Shelly's daughter, has deep roots in Seward, Alaska, and brings her unique flair to the festival every year. As the owner of her own digital design company, Sierra specializes in the snowmachine industry, but she believes that oceans and mountains—though vastly different—are often paired together in spirit. At this year's event, Sierra will have her beautifully wrapped sleds on display, showcasing her design expertise, while also selling exclusive merswag and more!
